World closing in,
gasping for breath...
all my hopes
stomped to death...
What once was promise,
now just a dream,
actually, a nightmare,
that's how it seems...
Darkness surrounds me,
but still, I fight,
open my heart,
search for the light...
A pinpoint in distance
renews my belief,
that in the near future,
I'll find relief.
I close my eyes,
and surrounded by light,
I ask the Universe,
to help in my plight.
I open my soul,
to love, and peace,
and feel my energy,
greatly increase.
Back on track,
I say a short prayer,
thanking the powers,
which are always there.

Beautiful write. This has a great flow and I liked the part of opening the soul. It gave the poem a feeling of peace to it, as though the universe itself can help people to find peace in life. Hopefully that made some sense. Thanks for sharing and best of luck in the contest.
