Meeting with an Angel

As I wrap the angel in a hug, I cannot stop the tears
Her beauty and serenity erasing all my fears
My other little sister smiles, happy we're together
She knows that while we have each other, there's nothing we can't weather
A question lingers on my tongue: "And where d'you think you've been?"
She chuckles, a melodic laugh, and tells me I'm being mean
"You know I had to leave you all, the goddess was calling me
I have no pain, I have no fear, and now I'm finally free."
I stroke her hair protectively, my smile sad but sweet
She gives her trademark, charming grin to sweep me off my feet
We talk for hours, trading stories, always with a smile
It hurts to know goodbye is near, but it's all been worth the while
Amber, Lizzie and Riley, we'll always be a team
And we'll always be together, all we have to do is dream

Author notes

[Copyright notice]
I, the author of this poem "Meeting with an Angel", release all rights to this poem to Raymond Cloud, for use in the book being dedicated to the memory of Austin Craig Smith.

This poem was written in memory of Elizabeth Lauren Allen. Born on the 23rd of November 1996, and died on the 23rd of October 2008. A victim of leukaemia, stolen from life at the tender age of eleven.

I still talk to her... in my dreams, we're all together, Lizzie, my other younger sister Riley and I. It may sound crazy, but without those dreams, I might not be able to cope with her death.

Blessed be, my angel. And blessed be to Austin as well, may his soul rest in peace. Michael, keep strong, my friend. I am always here for you if you need to talk.
