1 + 1 = 1

chase the flowering of the spiral
in ascendant circles coiling
a fractal embrace around-between
this exchange of light and sound
like foil wrapping-paper, gleaming spider-web illusions
torn away as if a hunting wolf ran through them
setting their gossamer strands stretching beyond firm and formancy
until the transaction stands revealed
as a mutual gifting.

Author notes

All teachers are simultaneously students. All students are simultaneously teachers. Only when both understand this fact can learning truly take place for either. This is the idea imparted to me by meditation on the prompt card issued... not sure why it's not quite the same as the definition given for the card. Just what happened.

Approaching Guru (Chapter 4, Verse 34)

Shloka: tad viddhi pranipatena
pariprasnena sevaya
upadeksyanti te jnanam
jnaninas tattva-darsinah

Meaning: Just learn the truth; approach a guru with humility. Inquire from them submissively and render service. The self-realised can impart transcendental knowledge for they have seen reality.

  • Hi there! Well expressed thoughts. Good use of alliteration and imagery. This card and poem reminds me of the famous shloka:

    Gurur Brahma Gurur Vishnu
    Gurur Devo Maheshwara
    Gurur Sakshat Parabrahma
    Tasmaye Shri Guruvehnamah.

I like your message in the notes box.

    Keep up the good work!
