Boys Basketball Games Are Fun

The pounding,
of the trash cans.
The beat,
everyone kept.
The sound of the crowd.

Watching the drumline,
make a scene.
Clapping,
for brillance.
Eyes darting,
looking for you.

Drumline,
walks off the court.
Boys,
walk back on.
Fans cheering,
all at once.

I'm busy,
looking for you.
Not noticing,
the side stairs.
A body plops,
next to mine.

A smile,
escapes us both.
A hug,
for congratulations.
Our bodies,
still facing.

The roar,
of the crowd.
The clapping,
of their hands.
The reality,
kicking back in.

A week later,
a crush forms.
I see you,
in the halls.
I know this,
isn't real.

Your boyfriend sits,
two seats away.
I'm afraid,
he'll find out.
Wishing, wanting, hoping,
one day.

You are all,
I'm thinking about.
Day dreaming,
and even night dreaming.
What makes this,
any different?

Your best friend,
is my best friend.
She approves,
and think it's great.
Never expected,
something like this.

I wanna take,
a risk.
I don't wanna,
break you guys up.
So,
I sit here.

I sit here,
writing.
I sit here,
thinking.
I sit here,
hoping.

Writing,
out my thoughts.
Thinking,
about your smile.
Hoping,
you might like me.

But there sit,
still holding his hand.
Maybe just notice,
just look this way.
If only you knew,
maybe I'd know too.

Romantic. Took me a couple re-reads of some parts to try to sort out exactly what what happening, but the scene was captured very well. The craziness, lost in the noise, and then so... focused.

I wish you the best of luck with your struggles right now. Probably my only real criticism of your poem is that you leave your own gender quite a bit vague. But that doesn't really matter much. Good write. ^^
