Medu Netcher

The ka of evil Pharaohs I replace,
and all good souls shall move to Akhetaten,
accept Amun's enlightened love and grace,
Aten's old evil shrine shall be forgotten.

The new dawn called down by Ra-Harakhte
shall shine divinely on all human faces
enlightening with love throughout the day
his neteru all Amarna embraces.

We children singing sweetly down below
inspired by queen Nefertiti's smile
shall e'er rejoice in Amun's blessed glow
on sacred land beside beloved Nile.

From Bakhu's mighty shadow we emerge
and in sweet sesen's light we shall be purged.

Author notes

This is about the great city Akhetaten - built by Pharaoh Akhenaten in ancient Egypt. It was a city of love. If you hit anyone or even yelled at anyone you could be banished. There was a way to settle any dispute amicably. It was a place completely without corruption where commerce and art flourished. It was probably the most successful utopia mankind has ever created. I have always wished I could go there. To get this vision of his built, Akhenaten started a new religion based upon Amun, the sun god creator, and said all other gods were false. This gave him ultimate authority and stripped the priests of theirs. Then he simplified his religion to the point where it really wasn't a religion anymore. Just him running the show. Him and his wife Nefertiti. Lauren sent me a picture of herself that reminded me of Nefertiti and I was inspired to write this. Apparently Akhenaten liked to write musical hymns and people were singing a lot. It sounds like a great place to me. It was the first monotheistic society on Earth. When he died, the old priests grabbed power and razed the city. Very very little was left. Now for the glossary:

Medu Netcher- word of god
ka - godlike life-force of the Pharaoh's
Akhetaten - city of love
Amun - god of the sun, creation, and the only true god
Aten - the old god of creation symbolized by the owl
Ra-Harakte - the essence of the sun
neteru - god's qualities, attributes
Amarna - kingdom of love
Nefertiti - Akhenaten's beautiful queen
Bakhu - along with Manu are mountains that hold up the sky. Bakhu is in the east so the dawning sun would have the city in Bakhu's shadow.
sesen - lotus flower representing the sun god's gentle attributes
