Uniting Men of No Property

This was worn on the back of Wolf Tone
when he was denied a soldier's death.
From reform to revolution;
the French had it right all along.
But stuck off Bantry Bay for days
old Bonaparte soon departed.
Upon capture, he took his own life:
"You'll die if you speak". "So be it", he replied.

Author notes

I don't often write political poems but that coat only brought to mind one person: Theobald Wolf Tone.

He was a Protestant who championed the right of all Irishmen - regardless of their religious beliefs - to unite and fight for freedom from England during the 1798 Rebellion.
