As I glide along the rhythmic river of our love
I gaze in mourning at the reflection staring back at me
in the hope that for a short while maybe...
just maybe it will be your handsome face I'll see
I know it has been two years my love
no other suitor could even begin to ruffle these feathers
my heart belonged to you and you only, it still does
in time my love this pain one day I shall be able to weather
No longer will my head bow in grief, like a weeping willow
I will once again be the regal beauty that swam so graceful by your side
my neck elongated, head held high, recalling our special times spent together
how we loved like no other could, how you filled me with such pride
Yes, my love I feel such anger at your sudden loss, why could it not have been me?
Did God not realise we were always meant to be?
Soul mates we were, are...how I hate the past tense, it's so hard
all I know is I'll love you for eternity
I'm reaching our favourite spot now amongst the reeds, were we began -
our union...how we would put our heads together to make one heart
giggling, watching the sun blush at the intensity of our love before she set
sweetheart, what do I do to stop myself falling apart?
So many things remind me of you, the changing colours of the seasons
how you loved the glassy reflection of the sky making the river so blue
how gems created from the sun danced on the ripples that were once formed by us
I know you are within everything, yet I'm so afraid of forgetting you
Please give me a sign that you are still here, ah, that's it I feel you now,
I love how you always send the faintest breeze to caress my pure plumes
there is no way I could mistake your touch..so tender and warm,
see how she still blushes the sun, I have noticed how she changes hues
Sometimes when you visit she goes bright red, others a vibrant pink
I love these moments when I am not consumed by the darkness of my grief
where I can continue to share these beautiful moments with you
a day where your touch reaches my soul...then comforts me in my dreams

Very moving, can relate to the swan's grief, and loneliness. I thought the same thing at first, that she was looking down at the water in hopes of seeing him. Brilliant, heart felt write. Blessings.

STUNNING PIECE
I have read this before, but I will say it again, I found this profound, stunning and beautiful in its form and layout. The imagery is breathtakingly-sad. You have outdone yourself Sugar. A wonderful piece of work produced from deep within you.

Wow.
One of your best poems, ever. This reminds me somewhat of my beloved and I because we're separated by miles. Loneliness is a very sad thing, & you described it here perfectly. Great one, sis.
