One of Those Days

 One of Those Days

It was one of those days, one of those days when
a simple sigh relieved the catastrophic tsunami of
stress that had been eating at my self control
and eroding my composure all day.

Home at last, home… and when the door closed
behind me I dropped my purse, kicked off my
stilettos and rushed to the liquor cabinet.
Whatever came out of that bottle,

certainly wasn’t a Cosmo.

I fell into the sofa, fell into the sofa and took a sip;
threw my legs up and grinned at the hideous run
crawling from my hemline down my thigh.

I did it again, just because it felt good…
a simple sigh.

What a beautiful description! Was it Flaubert or Guy de Maupassant who always searched for "Le Mot Just" ( now my french is as horrendous as my spelling) ( with my dyslexia you should see this before I spell check it! It looks like it's in code!) Just the right words were chosen to express the right situation, and not one more.

I am sure it would take a great deal to destroy your self-control and composure. I like this poem because it speaks so loudly of our shared experience. Isn’t that what poetry is all about...shared experience.

    Thanks for posting this,
    Love, Peter

This is like sitting and looking at a still life painting, absorbing the detail and watching a story unfold within it and flood the mind. You do this so well.

    I like it

Tumbles of words and ideas, merging into something rewarding to read.

And yes, sometimes a sigh is the best feeling you can get
