Orfeu

there was broken music
on strangely warm wind
notes that rose unto a fall
and did not rise again

within such tenderness
low soft tones, that became a melody
of giving earth, without will to weep
yet a treasure of life in its keep unwanted
wealth spent on numb ground
life became a slow shadow dance of pairs
and leaving an air of lingering tones
held for the moment of farewell,
tinged from within

love found a crescendo until
parting, and a soft chorus
of night, as woodland whistles
and moonlit calls
Orpheus descended into darkness
where even the light of love
abandoned him, there

lightless places
put breath of his soul
into paused spirit
flowed into depths of feelings
for essence of a woman,
and love gone beyond speech of lips
touch of fingertips; beyond veiled
and sheer disguises of life.
Forever is an endless echo
in which last he whispered, her name.

i love this, i am assuming it's about Orpheus and Eurydice... or perhaps someone you love just as much...and i like how you titled your poem with the movie title... this is so beautiful, even in its sadness... thanks so much for entering.

I like this a lot, always had since first time I read it,
The way how you presented Orpheus is simply great, such a wonderful inspiration from the play. The title, of course, made me think of Vinícius own version of Orpheus, and I guess that is what you had in mind when you chose it.
The love, the pain, the music and the immensely sad end... I love Greek mythology and this poem of yours was a delight to read

Orpheus is one of the favorite classic legends of all for me, and the film version Black Orpheus still comes to my thoughts after so long... so thank you so much for your kind words... h
