He Threw me away

Sadness profound is in my heart

blade in my hand

hurt is carried throughout the soul

blood covers my arm

etching in the world of woe today

lines cut so deep

tears cover my porcelain face

open to the muscle

my heart breaks without disgrace

open to the bone

my flesh does appear wrinkled and old

cutting deeper as you told

trenches and lines cut deep within my face

that your cutting me away

you told me all this day goodbye

tears of blood do cry

tattoo upon my arm is memories,

the raven's child cries

try to hold you close to me and in my soul,

for yesterdays sorrows.

  • Lovely and sad imagery, this is a great piece! I also love the background. I didn't care for the way you used these adjectives in the first person, such as "my porcelain face," and I thought the rhyme was a little awkward, but that's about it. I'm adding you to the finalists' list, and thanks for the entry!
