Recollection brings tears enveloped,
memories so grand they overwhelm this love.
Your words forever echoing in my mind
and your hug felt with warmth over my own soul.
Knowing that I know your love is forever,
naught can rob my heart of the bond we have shared.
Death may have come in the midst of longest nights,
yet, life surrounds me on what is tomorrow.
Recovery, not only sobriety,
but a past filled with terror before you came,
is the gift you yearned my wants to once behold.
Daddy, I have found it since you went away…
Because of you, all you tried to impart,
I am clean and smiling more days than I don’t.
Wish you could be here to share in this beauty,
but you are seeing it from heaven above.
I miss you with every breath that I inhale
and I sing the songs that you taught in past years.
The gifts you gave were not buried that sad day
but, eternally are unwrapped by these hands.
I love you Daddy
