Door de ogen van liefde

In de diepste emoties
ogen als een licht baken,
spiegels van waarheid,
schaduw en zonneschijn.

Het waren jou ogen
waarop ik als eerste verliefd werd.
Aguamarine kristallen
een onpeilbare diepte reflecterend
vanuit ieder gepolijsde facet.

Kijk gewoon in mijn ogen
en ik beloof je, je zal het altijd weten,
Ik hou van jou.

English translation:

Through the eyes of love

In the depth of emotions

eyes are as a beacon's light.

They mirror truth

shadow and sunshine.

It was your eyes I first

fell in love with,

aquamarine crystals

reflecting fathomless depths

from each polished facet.

They mirrored and filled my soul

with exotic fantasy

long before I realized

you were my soul.

For it was your eyes that introduced

your gift of love,

and awakened my perception.

It was your eyes that found back

my smile, lost

on the lonely journey of life.

What more would anyone search for

after a kaleidoscopic vision

replaces gray, and tenderness

strums each heartbeat?

How could I ever tell you...

just look into my eyes

I promise you'll always know

I love you.

So much sweetness it really make me melt away. Thank you for so much compliments you wrote away as well. You did a fantastic job and made great progress in your Dutch in this one. Speaking is one thing writing an other! I shall try to speak more Dutch to you so you can go on improving yourself

Dit is pragtig! Was so good to read your poem in Dutch and I didn't even have to read the English. Afrikaans and Dutch are so similar. Lovely poetry - ek hou hiervan.

      Hallo Nicolette,

I've only written a few pieces in dutch, but I hope to do many more, it's good for my education. I've been living among the flemmish of Belgium and now here in holland for over 9 years now...everyone is so accomodating of my english, maar ik moet sprake and schrift in nederlands!
hartelijk bedankt voor jou schitterende commentaar

      veel liefs, Sandi

I read it in Dutch (I know none), and caught the love and eyes and some blue crystals...
thanks for bringing it to my language.
The eyes are perceptive and communicative, yet we can gaze at them and still not learn everything they have to show. I love the realization "you were my soul"; we don't find someone else at all do we, but only One.
This is lovely to read and consider.

I'm trying to work on my Dutch a little more. I should do it more often, then maybe I could finally get it in my head after all these years
