Maybe the pain will stop...
The pain never stops.
It prolongs...
it spreads...
it takes on a life of its own.
Otherwise it just replaces
the life it engulfs,
in this world.
Replacing, overwhelming
or something anew.
It still does not stop.
That scarf around your neck
made the pain immortal in time.
That coat that keeps you warm
had eyes that stare out into space
or do they look at you
reproachfully?
What have you done?
That soft lining in your boots
had a heart
that lived and loved.
The only warmth it knows now
is the sweat of your skin.
No, the pain will never stop.
It lives on through that fluffy hat
on your head.
You made that pain immortal.
