The Dream

Between vermilion sheets, she awakens
To a room so familiar, yet foreign all the same
Everything tinted in a bloody shade
And as soft as Love's saccharine embrace
She untangles herself from the cloths
As they try to lure her back to sleep
Ignoring their cries, she then would arise
And with candle in hand, to the chamber she flees
With dim light, she winds through the halls
Between portraits, shadows dance upon the walls
Light shines below a doorway before her very eyes
At last, the fantastical chamber she finds
The door makes no sound with her entrance
But the delight in her heart did so loudly prance
Filled with such euphoria, she glides across the floor
Past the infinite library, further from the chamber door
Up the staircase she is flying, her heart fluttering so fast
Her white dress whispering behind her, to the balcony at last
Pale hands touch a stony ledge as her eyes take in the view
She has been here many times before and every time is new
To the West, mountains covered in Winter meet her crystal eyes
Her raven hair whips about her as her gaze meets the ground below
A broken graveyard sits in ancient solitude, taking her by surprise
And the air is of a Summer's night, despite a Winter's snow
The Heavens sparkle above her, dancing to the song of wind
To the East, raging seas in the night paint a story
But directly ahead, the fabrics of reality so bend
For atop many cliffs, a sliver castle sits in glory
A sky bleeding brilliant, radiant reds and gold
Within all of it's power, a legend is told
Feeling so unworthy of such absolute magnificence
She then turns to find his penetrating gaze
His emerald eyes entrancing, pulling her towards indulgence
Raising a colorless hand, fingertips graze her face
That face she has seen many times, yet never before
Blushing and smiling, her blue eyes glance at the floor
He lifts up her head with a touch of her chin
She looks into those eyes and knows she'll give in
Suddenly holding him close, his cold body oddly warm
His heart warming with hers, a love they have formed
He speaks in riddles she will soon translate
But from this dream within a dream, she wishes not to awake
