Final Call

I see thee fearless stand,
breathe over him forgetfulness,
but look! the yellow light no more
of memory, at the thought of thee!

where, pondering how all human love and hate
half hidden, in a quiet nook, serene of look and heart,
unskilled the subtle lines to trace,
in smiles and tears, in sun and showers-

heart answers heart:  in one desire
of one who bore it, making it divine
why need we care to ask?- who dreams
that love would temper every change

it's hopes and fears, it's final call
come then, in thought, if that alone maybe.

A Cento is a form of poetry, where you take lines from one or more artists and weave them together to make a new piece. In this case, John Greenleaf Whittier. I have several on here I enjoy doing them, they take a lot of time and work, but well worth it in the end.
