With my eyes held shut
Darkness overtakes me
Strange emotions crowd my mind
And elude me to a memory
Something I forgot but kept hold of deep inside
I see my bleeding and scratched body
But I hear his voice
Though I’m near death on the floor
And the pain's excruciating
Though not so bad any more
I wince at his touch over my scarred corpse
His hands are delicate though I feel so safe
He kisses my cold lips then brings me near
Then grasps me to his chest
And whispers ‘My darling don’t fear’
And soon we’re aloft and soaring through midnight
I feel wind sweep through my tattered hair
And snake through my torn clothes
But to be in his arms was always my dream
He whispers ‘we’re safe my sweet, Rose’
There’s a warming sensation
Though not from the heart
The sunlight shines upon my unharmed body
I open my eyes
Just a dream from the start
