Lost in shock I wandered
from one room to another.
Like the idle flight of a moth
seeking some form of light.
I opened cupboards without intention
perhaps my body wished for food?
Such things provide no sustenance.
It was in one such moment I saw it
A dress, still in suspended animation...
Flowing (like the waves).
Alive (like a Spring day).
Timeless (like our first kiss).
A sound escapes to freedom
Happy? Sad? I am not sure
as I feel tears cascade
sears as it waterfalls down my face.
She wore that on our first picnic...
Yellow, like the sun that still shone
I remember the light now
it was beautiful.
A blue rose emblem on the front,
blue like her eyes, the water colour.
A smile at the memory.
‘I’ll be your rose for the day’
she had joked under my admiration
‘Oh so you won’t need these?’
I teased, holding out three red roses.
(I had snuck them into the picnic basket)
Roses... her blush was more stunning.
She smelled like flowers too!
She laughed and took them
somehow contriving to set one in her hair.
I was captivated (captured by her face)
Enraptured (awe not concealed).
Visions come back
The dress remains (but she is gone).
“Oh Lord” I cry, while crying
“Can you not give her back?
Don’t you have enough angels?”
A light returns...
I see her face, smiling.
She whispers soundlessly
and my heart is comforted.
She is escorted by angels
but I barely notice that,
my angel is happy and peaceful.
I watch until the vision ends.
I don’t know what to feel.
Somehow I just understand
the sun will rise now.

Yes
The beginning was great. You had some good images.
However, the rest of it fell apart for me and turned into a melodramatic mess. --it's just my opinion.
BUT I love what you had in the beginning. I'd like to see more of that in the future.
