and never finding how the goal is won;
but one could be the centre of a wheel of peace and health,
the hub that's turning gently in the sun.
To realize heaven meditate on health and constant peace,
work hard, allowing others to rotate
in orbits of their own. The need for speech will soon decrease,
affection will replace the urge to hate.
The influence of calm and inner peace will comfort all,
the goal is ever love, more light, to share.
More people gathered close as one can magnify the call,
and seekers find the light is always there.
Author notes
"Poor and content is rich, and rich enough,
but riches fineless is as poor as winter
to him who fears he ever shall be poor." Shakespeare

I have read so many songs sung blue lately that it feels wonderful to read the wisdom of love which radiates blessing and light if we come to reflect that purpose willingly. The goal, indeed! Tomorrow is Thanksgiving day in the U.S., but this kind of thanksgiving moves in action and is what the whole of humanity needs to celebrate life and prosperity everyday. That it begins within each one seems a humongous task, but it has to begin somewhere, Someone chided me this week for wishing the sun to rise and set on the good in life. He said it was an opinion from a too sheltered existence.
If we don't change how we think, or learn to step to a different drummer, will we ever find that heaven you speak of here? I really loved this, Margaret. It reiterates the hopes of my heart.

A true seeker's words, Margaret. Deeply felt words I found them. If we can truly put ourselves at the very vortex of the cyclone, the centre of the wheel--I liked this image and know that you could not have written this without really KNOWING. And that is the difference.

-
-
Thank you for looking deeply, Venu. I was thinking about what would be a good goal for life, and the words came very easily. The image of the wheel ties in to many ancient traditions and memories.

So often the simpler, most pure means are overlooked as mankind strives with such fury to make his way...all the while undoing himself. The idea here is rest... rest in spirit through the assurance of love and peace. The ideas are not commonly grasped, for the are strangely paradoxical to most of our normal way of viewing the world... but as you so softly point out... there IS another perspective, and one that I am in agreement works! Lovely write.

Thanks for your lovely comment and applause, ten.
Perhaps one has to descend into many complications before one can appreciate simplicity. Thank you for your visit, I am very happy you like this poem.

This poem has a wonderful flow to it, and is full of great truisms that are often neglected or ignored in our society. The great universities are bent on teaching their students on how to MAKE a living, but fail to teach us HOW to live - and how to gain that inner peace. Great job in both construction and reflection on life with this poem.

Thank you for your applause and insight, Moses. These sayings are everywhere, and everywhere dismissed as platitudes. Just as "when the student is ready, the teacher appears", proverbs are enriched by life experience.
I'm happy you like the poem, I think it took 50 years to write it.

inspiring
It is true that wealth, like beauty, is found within. It is a sad fact that many people don't know this, and never will.
The reality of life is harsh, and while your words are inspiring, they are coming from a place that is a little too lofty for me to identify with completely. I did enjoy your poem though and thought it was well written. -
-
Thank you for your kindness, starrynight3636; your understanding of this idea is very good. It is my experience of life that being placed on a pedestal precedes a kick to see if one will fall, so thank you, "lofty" is too lofty for me.
Perhaps what you perceive is only a difference of viewpoint. I'm happy you enjoyed reading, and wish you well in all you do.

This poem, in my opinion, would do great mostly as a speech within a political sphere. It is redolent of reasoning and the awakening of it in each of us, but make sure your voice will be heard everywhere while reading it.
-
-
Thanks for your thoughts, mircea. I don't divide between personal and political, it is all connected. I will see if I can publish this one more widely.

-
the focus here is remarkable, the radical idea that life might take peace and love as a goal...like most things of beauty, it is free, equal to all, and among our most overlooked treasures... wonderful message, excellent...PK

-
-
Thanks for your comment, PK. We must have a goal in life, or we will float wherever the current goes; also attention is an energy, and what we water with it grows. This idea sounds radical now, but in a month, who knows?

The direction your words send me
is far from your intent, but watching
the news, hearing of reaching-out-events,
I picture Hillary in Japan, centered in the light, attempting to shine new light on the face
of our country, on being more open and
accesible to the world.
(Note: New USA Secretary of State Hillary Clinton
on Far East trip, starting in Japan.)
Your words always send me thinking, Margaret,
even if far afield!!!
