Behind These Eyes

small843053.jpg Blue Eyed Tears image by lisa4517

When you look deep

Into my blue eyes

Do you see the pain,
The pain that screams

From deep within the

Hollow shell that once

Was my heart, but now

Resides in a lonely tomb

Of broken promises and

Half heart attempts of

Love gone dreadfully wrong

Author notes

Written for the contest prompt. When I saw this prompt, it brought out a lot of words all at once and originally I was going to write a poem much longer than 30-50 words, but the contest stated 30-50 words so I controlled myself, pulled my thoughts together and let this meaningful real emotional poem come to life. This is how I feel right now, I'm still a hollow shell inside, so this prompt really helped me write about it. Thanks

Truly sad and I know it depicts part of what you're going through in your own life (which is no picnic). Good luck in the contest and other things.
