Revelation comes unto the dim vision
narrow and parochial, where feet are locked
in bloody sand, as yesterday's truth becomes mud
holds the willing to beds of swift streams;
for rising tides lift untethered boats.
Chance or misfortune, luck or wisdom
mankind has staggered to this place
placing foot before foot with the reeling
feeling of falling; in faith or doubt
it seems in deed, God watches the foolish.
We stand, as tides of time
inundation of misery, and virtues of the few
have brought us; a debt we may not repay
to those gone before; except perhaps to change:
change tomorrow, by the things we make today;
change yesterday when we make destinations
as glorious as the mighty struggle.
There are answers to the question: may all be free,
within the reach of the hand, the turn of the day;
we have seen mankind bend as one to levels
of bitter regret... and now, a burning moment of now;
when as one we must face this day,
breath becomes a mirror;
we can no longer say, we did not know.

Your words are full bodied.

Powerful thoughts here, a voice that calls for our response. The first stanza sets the scene, we progress through changes made, not made and possible, until the last stanza which requires us to see clearly and act accordingly.
The final line is an indictment, uncompromising.

Wonderful message you show here!

Hear, hear.
A very strong voice behind this one, I loved it.

"feet locked in bloody sand"---what a powerful opening image... I knew right away this poem would be something to stop and take notice of!
This is filled with the reality of our faults, but a recognition of potential as evidenced in the strengths of some. The sense of responsibility that we have,not just as individuals, but as a whole (which can often be the harder part) is really something to think about. I read this as a call to put aside not only or ignorance, but our excuses.
"breath becomes a mirror"--that image right there just says it all. If we are alive and breath God's air, the we must take part in this responsibility. That's pretty heavy, but veritable.
Thanks for not letting us forget.

This is so amazing...
Makes one think ...Such power throughout, and the ending is brilliant
