Butterfly Death

One single tear
    drops
          drops
              lands
Butterfly smeared
but only in my vision
I cry for the butterfly
when I could not cry for me

Scars along my arm
    burn
          burn
              coldness
hot from the feelings
I cannot express
cold from the indifference
was all I thought I had left

hope inside a butterfly's wings
    hiding
        hiding
              shown
I pick up a marker
to start all over again
praying to no one I believe in
that this time it survives

prompt:
The Butterfly project, also known as the butterfly mission, is a commonly-used method to rehabilitate cutters/burners: Draw a butterfly on yourself in permanent and name it, possibly after someone you love or care about. If you cut/whatever before it fades away, you've killed it; if you do, don't beat yourself up, just start over.

~*~ Side note, this is not about me personally, so please do not worry, although I have had second hand knowledge of a cutter in my life~*~

Wow what a heartfelt write. I too have never been a cutter and could never imagine how one must feel going through this. Your words touched me deeply and I know they will touch many others. Thanks for sharing your amazing talents. Congrats on the Bronze. Have a beautiful day, hugs Theresa

Your poem is so very well written. Normally I avoid the subject, probably because I can't understand self-abuse in any form, it's very concept messes my mind up. but this was such a lovely poem on the subject and so well written I had to send mu kuddos.

A very clear and strong portrayal of the prompt, nicely done. I am really not a fan of repeating the same words over close together but here as a form it has really worked well. A superb write. Thanks for entering and good luck

This is lovely, and I can relate to your ANs as well. Though I am not a cutter myself, I have written as one several times, mostly through secondhand knowledge. My boyfriend is an ex-cutter, and though I don't agree with the practice, I understand its purpose as a survival-method ad have accepted that part of his past.

Very well done, and keep up the good work!

Write about the symbolism here; make it disturbingly-profound, or profoundly-disturbing.
