Ah, people

People — inabilities of past,
present and future –
who roam sly,
and defile;
their pride and greed
is laced with insecurity,
they harbour talk,
live split lives,
and smile hatred.

I am commanded to turn
the other cheek,

to forgive them.

Lord, you know
my nature hates,
has a desire
to confront
and to hurt
in the same way,
but I must admit I cannot,
even when I so badly want this.

    In introspective moments ...

we become humble in the realization that we are but children, and loved nevertheless and because ...

Your poetry always inspire me towards reaching higher.

    Love
    Myra

I know the feeling well. Turning the cheek is neither a natural human reaction nor is it a sign of weakness. It is a Divine mandate based on the reality that love and forgiveness are more effective weapons against injustice than guns and knives.

    Sincerely,
    Leo Long
