Loss
How dare they leave
such as me
to toil about
to flail
in a lonely breeze
Sorrow
the heft of worlds
never seen
ever tasted
through the eyes of gods
...at least they seemed
For once now
to stand
upon my own frail legs
awashed in crimson memories
I plod
I. one foot
II. and then another
III. each step easier
IV. blind faith
a promise of a happier life
"invest in loss"
they say
face harder with softer
oh, that Chen Man Ching!
this old guy says:
life is a beautiful payday
to turn around and see
the trialed paths
the lessons accepted
grace in evolution
of a single day
stay
How dare they leave
such as me
to toil about
to flail
in a lonely breeze
Sorrow
the heft of worlds
never seen
ever tasted
through the eyes of gods
...at least they seemed
For once now
to stand
upon my own frail legs
awashed in crimson memories
I plod
I. one foot
II. and then another
III. each step easier
IV. blind faith
a promise of a happier life
"invest in loss"
they say
face harder with softer
oh, that Chen Man Ching!
this old guy says:
life is a beautiful payday
to turn around and see
the trialed paths
the lessons accepted
grace in evolution
of a single day
stay

to wave not goodbye
with eloquence
but implore to stay
to issue the sun's
invocation
to greet another day
with grace
as if the sky itself
could dance
on feet like mine
I think I'll stay,
perhaps to make
the flowers sway,
to stir the stem
of aspen
as if to say
hello

to plough the rows with friends such as thee
is
an honor

Your last three lines are some of the most profound I've read, Dan. What a wondrous gift you gave the author of the poem that inspired this gorgeous penning, Scribe. Such luminosity.
