Family Is Those Who Loves You

So often the young in pain
and feeling alone,
often feeling they are trapped
within their homes.
Little do they know
that love is just outside,
and those hands reaching out
to help is love that's right.

Family is not always those near,
family can be the ones you find so dear.
Family is where joy of life can be found,
and know you don't have to live sorrow bound.

I can be your family
if you so wish it to be,
the lady down the street
you often see.
Those kids who asks you to join them
why not today,
find the family that knows real love
and can show you the way.

Family is learning to live
where the light of life shines,
A place where the child within
can feel the light.
Make each day the very best it can be,
In all you do and all you see.
Let not another bring you down,
You are special and inside
it's where love can be found.

You don't have to feel this is all there is,
you can look beyond the sadness
and find the gift.
You can find your family
and those who care,
you are not alone honey
if you become aware .

Author notes

I have heard so many young people who takes beatings and harm upon them in hope that their family would one day love them and I cry . For they know not that often their family is sick and knows not how to love .
But they can find that love is not only found in the home love can be embraced and tus grown . Know where you are safe and unafraid know of those who would love you each day . For love should never cause a child to cry or feel neglected thats right

    Not bad

the 4th & 5th stanzas needs help - you started out with a good rhyme and then seemed to loose it.
I love the message and think with maybe a little work it can be a great piece - but don't sacrifice the message for words.

Ah this is so true. Our concept of family should be expanded to include everyone. Fences only serve to fence us in, not keep others out. We're floating on a lonely planet, millions of light years from any other possible life. It's strange how we don't consider the entire human race one big family.

    So True

Patty you have hit a nerve with me here, I am still coming to terms with 'Family' situations
'A place where the child within can feel the light'.
This is a very important message you bring
    'I also liked, -
'Look beyond the sadness and find the gift'.
A great poem of healing and motivation

Your very true that blood is not the only link to decide family. There are many others in my life who are family to me even though there is no real relation. Great poem Patty.

    My

a caring heart . And in these time so very rare it seems. but we must commit to the new movement where Me is all that seems important to most, sadly.
