mommy

mom said
she never loved you.
And taken away
you took.
She liked to go walking
in the woods,
and pick wildflowers
to make little necklaces
or headbands to rest on her hair.
Sometimes she’d just
go upstairs
and put on her dresses
and wrap her pearls around her neck
look in the mirror,
and laugh
at the woman
the child became.

Please tell me what you think

    interesting

Can't say I followed this part: "And taken away you took." It didn't make any sense to me. Other than that, the rest of the poem was very good. I enjoyed the visual imagery and playfulness of the piece. There is a sense of "what goes around comes around," but not in a negative way, which is the direction I thought this was heading at first.
