as the season turns
with eyes,
on the calla
they have no hands,
to stroke such
splendor
and with my nose,
pressed against her
bulbous cup
this fragrance of spring,
melts-
winter’s lonely
away
Author notes
where does the white go when the snow melts?
where does love go when love disappears?
in breaths of a flower

Yes...the calla lily - my favourite flower and native to South Africa!

How can this flower poem of yours not make itself sit in my eyes, Mal? The fragrance of this one, just like that of love's flowers will always stay with us, with me.
Thank you for this lovely poem.

Very interesting write and extremely thought provoking for this reader.
I love pieces like this that have underlying thoughts within the stanzas.. Just beautiful.
Good luck in the contest.
