I’m trying to find the right words
to share with you what I see
when I look at you
what I feel
when your skin brushes mine
what I know
when you look at me like you do.

But it seems near impossible;
just as impossible as it would be
to imagine my life without you.

I want you to know
if you should ever question
the meaning of us
I'd grasp your thoughts
within me and soothe them
with our memories.

I’d take the yearning of a child
and splash it through our laughter,
I’d take the reddest strip of the
rainbow and wrap it around both of us,
I’d hold the sun at the highest point
in the sky, for as long as you needed
to realise how everlasting my love is for you.

I’d write you a poem
with emotions I’ve never shared
with anyone else but you
in the hope
you’d catch a glimpse of how I see
the person I want to spend
the rest of my days with,

and in the hope you’d know
just how much you mean to me.

    Hope you have shared this with Ben. It seems too often it is easier just to talk about the mundane and completely necessary things that make up life, all the trivialities that life consists of and then suddenly we find ourselves wishing we had said more of the things we really feel.

    Anyhoo, this is a great write. So very appropriate to Valentine's Day and the celebration of love.
