As people, we’re so far apart
that we can’t see beyond ourselves.
We know the truth within our heart
but keep it on the highest shelves.
The magic of a gentle touch,
the floods of joy when we’re in love,
can be a part of everyday…
can be a part of what we’re of.
We accept the pain we daily see
or simply turn our eyes away
instead of reaching out to care,
to attempt to find a better way.
It’s not enough to shake our heads
and mumble words of piety
or give some money to a group
for one more useless committee.
Start within your neighborhood
or even on the street.
Share a word of kindness
with a stranger that you meet.
We know the answer from within;
we know the Golden Rule.
Beyond the words, we need to act
for that is change’s fuel.

A great message here...action creates change.
A wonderful write full of truth, pointing out the choices we have, and the fact that "caring is not enough" to change things.
A wonderfully inspiring write.
Excellent pic !!

I loved this. Beautiful and inspiring. I especially love the simplicity of the message. Sometimes a word of kindness is all you really need.

A wonderful call to action. The world can be changed by such small simple things a smile, a hand, a touch. Great poem. Good luck.
