mouthful of slumber

.

who knew razor-wire tattooed

so effectively into skin

creasing shadow 'neath water,

she swallows mouthfuls of slumber

break apart from her name

still lingering on salty lips;

blinks sunset & dust,

crinkling static electricity from hair

baby's skin was so cold

smile in a face reminded of her's

could tiny little footsteps pounce

and let heart bleed & bludgeon within?

footsteps stay away from the month of May

breathes illegally through calcite,

easily knew nothing,

wandered for thin days sinking into trees.
