While fast the flickering lights concede
The cracks along the fortress grow
Disastrous moments sealed in time
Left barren, with nowhere to go
While echoes drift like dying laughter
In the blackened ash filled sky
Still questions beat the brow of reason
Against our rage we ask God why?
While fast the glowing madness rumbles
Amidst the crackling timbers roar
The screaming voices rattle memories
We bear the pain forevermore
We walk along the pathway traveled
Filled with weary hearts of pain
Left to wonder, yes to wonder
Will it happen once again?
The cracks along the fortress grow
Disastrous moments sealed in time
Left barren, with nowhere to go
While echoes drift like dying laughter
In the blackened ash filled sky
Still questions beat the brow of reason
Against our rage we ask God why?
While fast the glowing madness rumbles
Amidst the crackling timbers roar
The screaming voices rattle memories
We bear the pain forevermore
We walk along the pathway traveled
Filled with weary hearts of pain
Left to wonder, yes to wonder
Will it happen once again?

A painful reminder to those who have experienced such things. Expressive in fear, sadness, even emptiness. What an emotive write. Thoughtful, indeed.

Why? That's a question only God himself knows...
It's life and we have no choice but to carry on and thank goodness for the memories, right, because without them were left with nothing really, so sad...As always you've created many images and left one to think...

In today's world, it seems, no one is a stranger to tragedy no matter what strata of society you belong. Your poem flows like the tears of those left behind I'm sure.

we never know when our life will end...
so use our time wisely
smiles to help cheer other people
3x a day
and you will never regret to have
a long life or a short life
either way will be the same
may they all had Rest In Peace
