A pair of morning doves preen and prim
snuggled together upon favored limb.
Cooing low to awake a sleeping sun,
singing praise for a new day begun.
A slip of a ghostly moon rides low
wearing its light like a pale halo.
Sol ascends as the master of day
vanquishing dark in brilliant display.
Vapors shed crystalline tears on grass
depositing dew drops clear as glass.
Carpets of flowers imbue the air
with a sensual fragrance beyond compare.
Tall lanky palms of feathery leaf
are clad in Gaia’s green southern motif.
Skittish crabs playing tag with the waves
pouncing and darting from nearby caves.
Sipping fine wine while enjoying the show
we greet the day with a happy glow.
A poor man's heart and nature combine
to offer this gift to my Valentine.

Such a fine tribute to that special someone. This certainly beats one of those gawdy red baloon things with the ribbons and box of chocolates tied to the end and a cupid shooting an arrow on some dime store card. She must certainly be glad she has a poet to immortalise the moment.
