I can't even walk past him,
without a look of hatred.
He could get to know me,
he chooses to judge instead.
She bumps into me on the street,
not watching where she is going.
To her, though, it's my fault,
I know, from the hurtful words
she keeps throwing.
They don't realize that,
they are just like me,
fighting their own personal demons,
afraid of a future they can't see.
So as they walk by,
judging and accusing,
I just watch them go,
and I smile....
because it's amusing.
without a look of hatred.
He could get to know me,
he chooses to judge instead.
She bumps into me on the street,
not watching where she is going.
To her, though, it's my fault,
I know, from the hurtful words
she keeps throwing.
They don't realize that,
they are just like me,
fighting their own personal demons,
afraid of a future they can't see.
So as they walk by,
judging and accusing,
I just watch them go,
and I smile....
because it's amusing.

Love the sentiment at the end of this piece, because it's so true. We either have the choice just to laugh it off, exasperated, or we take it personally, where it digs in and it festers, where it can feed self-hate and loathing until you dont even remember the source, all you can think of is this disgust for yourself, where, then, you can often project that on to other people, by doing exactly what these people did to you originally, so it never stops.
This piece carries sadness, but also shows a great strength of character.
Good write and congrats on silver.

Very honest emotions
This is something I think a lot of us either have been through or know people who have
Great work -
Very straight forward and to the point. People often times judge for no reason. They can't let people be who they are.

-
great write. I like the attitude this one has... but so true out in the world there are people who will judge you ... yet they don't even know who you are... let alone why you do the things that you do. I can relate to this.
-
I love this. Most people have felt this way, i know i do. It's great to see such optimism in the written word!
