The Heart is a Muscle

The Heart is a Muscle
And not a love thing at all.
The Brain is where you emotions are
So let me tell you what the heart parts are called.
It all begins in the supeior vena cava,
some drinks speed it up like java.
Then the blood flows to the right atrium,
through the tricuspid valve but not back again.
The valve prevents the backup and hopefully no trickle,
Then the blood goes to the right ventricle.
Then through the semi-lunar valve and up out of the heart,
The blood travels out to the lungs from the pulmonary art(ery).
To the lungs to drop of carbon dioxide and pick up oxygen,
Then through the pulmonary vein and back to the heart again.
From there the blood enters the left atrium,
Flowing through the triscuspid another valve again.
Now it is in the left ventricle and man is that baby strong,
Because it has to pump the blood througout the body all day long.
It leaves the aortic valve under a pressure which is very strong,
Goes to the rest of the body where it really belongs.
Large arteries and small arteries and then arterioles,
To the digestive system to get nutrients to fill all our hunger holes.
The blood goes to the capillaries which are only one red blood cell thick,
And here it drops off nutrients and oxygen and takes in waste, that is it's trick!
Then to venules and small veins and then large ones,
Back to to the heart to once again begin the fun.
So you see the heart is just a muscle and not your emotions center, alas,
So next some girl says, "He broke my heart!" You say "Your Brain" my lass!

I really liked this- you put a fun twist on the sequence of events. One thing: when the blood enters the left ventricle, it travels through the bicuspid valve, or as most call it the mitral valve.

I really enjoyed your ending- it was very clever. Good flow and excellent poem.

All the best and thanks for entering,
