Just words, performed to prove
that each word you said is true
& each lie you fed was nothing;
[you know how it goes. I tell you -
I trust you baby, with my life;
yet I don't even trust you with my dog].

Need you

Your promises are perishable,
just like each heartwrenching truth
I'm too afraid to admit to myself.
I'm breaking again, falling into traps
& I wont go through fake forevers again,
I only just survived before.

Remember, when you said to me
that each time I frown, a star dies--
I believed that at one time, like kids
once believed in the Easter Bunny,
but beautiful words are just like charcoal,
they are just black and sordid to the soul.

Can't live without you.

But my smiles are shadowed
with an unsettling doubt; I never,
could look into your eyes & fall
after all the things you've done.
I'll spend hours convincing you
each syllable you speak I believe
& somehow, I never could -
believing in you is too hard to do.

If I'm honest, ever since you broke me;
the very first time, years ago -
I haven't trusted you & I know now,
that I never will again
