~205 Million Dollars!

 
 
 
 
I can't believe I won the lottery.
Mega millionaire overnight.
I feel like I've died and gone to Heaven,
though I didn't see no light!

I started walking down city streets,
up and down the hills.
For everybody I walked by,
I handed a handful of dollar bills.

People in the alleys,
under the northern bridge,
bought 'em a new house,
washer and dryer
and a fridge.

People everywhere
 all seemed to smile at me.
All their chains now busted,
thankful to be free.

I felt drunk with happiness,
then a clink woke me up.
Another passerby dropped
a quarter in my  cup.

    this poem makes me CRY!! omg!!
    this is so sad.. such a turn of evens can competely change a poem.. this is so sad and beautiful.. im actually tearing up.. iv been moody all day.. but this has let it out.. such a fantastic peome. please please PLEASE enter it in my prewrites contest.. it is amazing.

    Clever!

    I really like this! It has a rhythm to it and a natural rhyme. I got the feeling as I was reading it that when I came to the end the person would end up broke. But you got me in the end with the "quarter in my cup" Very clever and well done. Nice to read a poem that puts a smile on my face!
