The rightful judge of the family,
you sit with your words in your eyes.
Your opinions are so rare they are precious:
water in this emotional desert.
I look to you for advice, support and love
when the rest are wrapped up in themselves.
Selfless, wise and generous...
I want only you in my life's path.

This poem makes a wonderful contrast to all the "father bashing" that seems to be everywhere... a short but most excellent piece!!! bravo!

"Your opinious are so rare they are precious" True but I did find that, as my dad grew older, the opinions came more frequently but were, I think, more gentle.

This is wonderful! It reminds me of both my dad and my daughter's father, with "words in your eyes" and "opinions so rare" they are all the more precious. "Selfless, wise and generous," indeed. What a lovely tribute to your father. Thank you for sharing it with me at this time.
All the best,
ea
