(This is actually a song I wrote and recorded some time ago. In a short cameo, it tells the story of my mother's life long before she met my father. Times were very hard then and she often had to play her violin on the streets for money. Although she passed away a while back, my mother is always in my heart and thoughts, and her many talents have been an inspiration to me since my earliest memories.)
Maureen
The north wind blows across the sky
It carries a strange sound
It’s the bowing of a violin
When there’s no one around
Hear the jingle jangle
As the money hits the floor
And the song goes on and on and on
As the ghosts cry out for more
Chorus:
Maureen
Where are you going to Maureen?
Maureen
Where are you going to Maureen?
Are you looking for fun
Are you looking for a fight Maureen?
On the corner of the street
She stands for hours long
Though her hands with blood run red and cold
She cannot end her song
Little hands that wait for food
Are crying in her mind
And her tears are falling one by one
For the life she left behind
Chorus:
Maureen
Where are you going to Maureen?
Maureen
Where are you going to Maureen?
Are you looking for fun
Are you looking for a fight Maureen?
Bridge:
Did you think that life was easy
No one ever told you so
But the river of life runs shallow
As the will to live grows low
Spoken: Will you give us a song Maureen?
Go on, give us a song Maureen
Barefoot children in the house
Mournful eyes and faces thin
He watches the clock till he goes out
And she is left locked in
Hear the jingle jangle
As the money hits the floor
And the song goes on and on and on
As the ghosts cry out for more.
Chorus:
Maureen
Where are you going to Maureen?
Maureen
Where are you going to Maureen?
Are you looking for fun
Are you looking for a fight Maureen?
(For Maureen,
when the north wind blows…,)

I envision buskers and celtic dancers singing for their supper in this birthday tribute to your mother. Nice work, you should upload the lyrics and record it at acid planet and add the link in your notes.

This is lovely. I came here from a Teacher note and I forgot who you were. Now I remember, you're the one I insulted with my poem about your art work and Naclissa. Still sorry about that.
Love,
Amera♥

Beautifully and wonderfully written to one you loved so much. A fine dedication to a Mother who had to live through hell to support the one's she loved. Very well done... Scott

Thank you dearest friend! I do so wish I could post the music, but the facility isn't there. She was a very, talented lady who could take one look at an out fit and sew her own, or create a Fair Isle knitting pattern out of her head as she knitted it. Thank you for celebrating with me on this special day!

Hi Dolly!
I'm glad you like this one my special niece, because it's a tribute to a great Mum. She was a very special lady, who lived a very hard life. She still gives us laughs though when we remember some of the things she'd do and say!
