Be quiet, be calm and be patient
This is the way to teach and learn
Fixing what’s in one’s own mind
Is everyone’s true concern
Unsolicited advice
Falls on deaf ears
People hear only
What they want to hear
You’re not above
Just watch and love
No one will hear you
When you try to impose
Human nature is to resist
Human nature is to oppose
You must genuinely listen to others
If you want to be listened to
This will break down their fear
Of being imposed upon by you
Listen to others
Learn from one another
We really teach by example
Not by words for others to hear
We teach inclusive love for all
Or we teach hate and fear
Everyone has a piece of the puzzle
Think not you know it all
Watch, listen and learn
Teach inclusive love for all
Everybody is teaching
Listen, stop your preaching
Only those who ask
Who question how things be
Only those with minds not made up
Have ears to hear and eyes to see

Inspirational
I recognize in this group of poems that you seek to teach somewhat in a caring, heart lifting way. I haven't read all your work, but I would like to read something from you that explores one of your inner challenges or tribulations, which shows the inherent human vulnerability, and less instruction.

Thank you so much for your comments. I've been told that I get a little preachy sometimes. All these poems are written as a learn and grow on my spiritual path. They are really directed at myself. I'm talking to myself. Here's my latest poem which happens to show some of my tribulations. http://allpoetry.com/poem/5300163

Totally book worthy. You are such a great writer of this subject. So much wisdom to share with others.

During my theology studies I read some of Karl Barth's writings and one particular gem stuck with me and your poem reminds me of it.
He wrote that we should open the skylights of our minds each morning and begin afresh.
Your words are full of wisdom!
(By the way I couldn't reply to your comment on my poem because I want to remain anonymous but I'd like to tell you that whenever I go to the secret wood I feel extremely refreshed. I'm glad that came across and that you felt it!)
Peace Georgia

Wise words and a mixture of modern and not so modern to barter with. A piece of the puzzle I am still dangling with I suppose.

I love every word of this, it's so awesome!
No one will hear you
When you try to impose
Human nature is to resist
Human nature is to oppose
So true. Best luck in the contest
