Each day I thank God that I am who I am and who I will always be
Nothing anyone can say or do will take that away from me
My life struggles and turmoil’s strengthen me each and every day
Even still I confess, being stricken with an incurable disease would not be my chosen way
Then again who in their right mind would choose to suffer this stigma of society
When young and fancy free not thinking just running through life’s varieties
Often I wonder why people think less of a person they once knew
Instead why don’t they try to take a walk in that persons shoes
To realize ones life’s actions have brought them to this winding passage way
Freely admitting there are many things you would do differently given the chance today
Sure you’ll have regrets, but that won’t change your present day situation
For I believe HIV/AIDS is a deadly disease; but it doesn’t degrade a person if you have strength and determination
When I say to you without reservation I would not go quietly into the night
For the continuation and preservation of my very life, I will always continue to fight
I can say these words with the utmost sincerity and conviction because I am HIV free
Yet I sit and ponder with heavy heart and much deliberation, thinking
“What If It Was Me”.

A very good look into the life of another. I love the compassion you put into it and the feeling that they have made mistakes (some of them) and know they fight for their life. Nice thoughts on the disease and the people.
