Restlessly perfecting the image
Of what I want you to see me be
But feeling foolish in the end
When I know you love me for me.
Fluttering dragonflies
Have replaced the motion of my heart,
And walking past you
Those wings have trouble getting to restart.
The blooming blood-red
Of a fresh rain-drenched rose
Appear on my cheeks when you come near me, lean in
And I see your eyes start to close.
All of the emotions that go through me
I know you will always understand;
And no matter what I feel
You always reach out to take my hand.
These bubbles of forever romance
That I’ve always wanted to be part of
Will some day, surely find me,
And I can be with my true love.
Although I don’t know who that will be
And I just stare out to the sea,
Daydreaming against the crashing waves,
Imagining the perfect fantasy...
