The Imortal

I wandered over the plains of ice
My crew and I have found a cave
deep in the hills of ice.
Uninhabited Green land revealed
a lasting secret.

In the chambers of the cave
there lay a stone sarcophagus,
the runes were around it
two I could read.
"handbani" and "Dain"
Killer death.

Was it killer death or killer of death
I was not sure,
the other runes I could not read
yet we moved the lid.

Laying beneath was a skeletal form
dressed as a Dane king,
the tomb dates
to the early viking age.

A long ancient sword was held
by the leathery
skeletal hands,
the preservation was exciting.

A shaft we had not noticed
before within the chamber,
allowed the moons light
to shine upon the body and sword.

The last thing I saw
was the skin reviving,
as the signs of breath
were noticed.
The Dane king awoke.

Let me know How this makes you feel, what do you think?

I plan to revise this poem: please leave constructive criticism!

Oooo, how exciting, this reminds me of The Mummy also of the movie The Librarian: Curse of the Judas Chalice. Very enjoyable read. Actually felt I was there.
