They use the word 'damaged'
Like I am some sort of cardboard box
With water stains from a flood,
Like I've been dropped
Wrong way up,
With a dog eared corner,
My cellotape in ruins.
I am not a bridge out of service,
A door that will not budge,
I am not a window that sticks and lets in
The cold air and the flies.
I am not a package of flowers
Gone mouldy from being kept
In the dark,
Stems gone to aphids,
Petals wilted in mildewed dampness.
I am not to be handled with care.
I deny your stamp of 'fragile'.
I am not your definition.
Author notes
Somebody said the other day 'I understand that you're damaged'
I'm not a parcel thats been accidentally dropped on the floor, you know.

This was a fantastic display of creative poetical prowess, I loved every line of it! You really got my attention with the way you ended it, too. Nice writing, cyanide!

I think that sometimes very well meaning people can be incredibly insenstive. Damaged? I dunno, most like the things you have seen and done have made you stronger and given you insight.
Well done. I loved the box metaphor in the first stanza.
