Alpha And Omega

Heaven is the presence of good.
While Hell is the absence of good.

God is said to be omnipotent and omniscient.
Everything being electrical in nature, making life efficient.

Science proves it out.
Everything exists in cyclical patterns, gravity moving stars and planets about.

Without beginning or end.
Supernovas explode to create new stars to  breathe life again.

Black holes implode to create new universes.
Out of those, a new life emerges.

God is in Alpha and Omega in everything and everywhere.
In constant motion in the universal lair.

Supernova is just another word for rebirth.
And, God is just another word for the universe.

Author notes

a bit of cosmology, philosophy, atheism, science and religion all rolled into one.

Thanks, George. I always try to add in some knowledge in my poems. I just try to think of possibilities and go with the flow of those thoughts and see what happens. Oddly enough, I wrote this poem after an evening of service at the Apostolic church. It's funny where inspiration can come from sometimes.

      Peace and blessings.

  • Indeed, the Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. You write truth here. All things work in cycles. Great imagery and a great poem.

Well I think you said it all, God is everything. Everything is connected. I like how you said "Hell is the absence of Good". It is the best definition I have heard yet.

Thanks. The funny thing is, I hadn't even thought of it until I had visited the Apostolics and listened to how they viewed God and when they said God was everywhere I related it to the universe and everything clicked. It is quite interesting where ideas to write about can come from sometimes.

      Thanks for reading and commenting.

    HOODWINKED!

Very well written, Haley; albeit, I do disagree that God is just another word for anything other than Himself. And, indeed, He is Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end and knows the end from the beginning. As you have noted, you've rolled into one a number of beliefs and theories and done it well!

    Much luv in Christ, BonnieQ

Thanks, Bonnie. I have always been a curious person, thinking about the old beliefs of the past and of what it might all mean. It was so strange, but when I walked out of the Apostolic church after talking with all the religious people last Saturday, I felt like I learned from them. Not so much believing in a deity, but just understanding the oneness of the universe and everything in it. I feel like cosmology, philosophy, quantum physics, alpha and omega, the religions of the past, especially the eastern ones like Buddhism are all related somehow. I guess you could just call me an out of the box thinker.

Peace and love of the cosmos,

      Haley Mary

A very interesting potpourri of thought, from the realm of cosmology to theology. A very good ending to an excellent poem.

Thanks. Hope you found it thought provoking. Yeah, theology. I hadn't thought of it that way before, I was thinking if was more philosophical, but it does have a theological aspect to it, doesn't it?

Thanks for reading and commenting. I always appreciate hearing people's thoughts.

Thanks. This I wrote while I had an ephiphane moment. I had a visit with some Apostolics and I felt I learned more about the western religions from them. I have so often explored the eastern religions and read about Buddhism, Hinduism, Bahai and others and have compared reincarnation to supernovas, but for the longest time, I had no idea how to figure out god. I mean, there's the word deity meaning sky and day and such. My "Meaning of Deity" poem explains that better. I suppose I'm more an agnostic philosopher these days than an atheist. Thanks for reading and commenting.

This wasn't even something I would have thought of if it wasn't for Buddy, Paul and my visit with the Apostolics. It is quite interesting what can be learned when talking to people from different walks of life.

This is a good poem. There are so many understatements that I would consider mean a lot. I love that. Really nice job. Pretty inspiring. I love science and I love how you mixed it with faith and uhatnot. That was just downright awesome! I like your title too. Creative. My favorite stanza would have to be the last one for sure. "Supernova is just another word for rebirth and God is just another word for the universe." Very true, I agree. Lol. I think the imagery of this poem is really nice too. Superb Job!!

Thanks. This was something I thought a lot about. I've been through a bit of a spiritual crisis these past seven months. It's a long story.

I hadn't really ever compared reincarnation and science with Christianity or any of the western religions before, so I thought it would be a good challenge to try to do.

Thanks for reading and commenting. Always appreciated. Hope you're having a great week.

Thanks, Michaela. Glad you liked it. I always hope my writing isn't too wacky when it comes to the philosophical aspect of things. Yeah, I like the end, too. It's like one of those things where it doesn't matter whether you're a religious person or an atheist, agnostic, deist or something else, a person can relate to the poem in some way.

      Thanks for reading and commenting.
