my words sang color,
variegated past the depths
of my soulful blue

From someone who knows blue
let me say this is the very essence. It doesn't get any more blue.
From singing color to soulful blue, this says to me, "I know your deepest dreams. I know you."
What an exceptional piece of writing. Maybe it's not genius, but then, maybe genius is overrated.
I loved this little poem. It's going to be circling 'round inside my head for days.

Very nice. I like the way you have used colour to illustrate the rise of emotion here. Best of luck in the contest...alby
