"The only man a girl can trust-"

If blood runs thicker,
then gold is lead -

dense,
clogging up
wasted water ways
that rot away the life
attempting to rebreed
in the depths of an ocean
they destroyed with the sheer weight
of a century's worth of
trash,

leaving nothing but this layer of filth
and enough water to fill a lake with tears.

Author notes

Title from Grease, and Dirty Dancing, and countless other places - "The only man a girl can trust is her daddy."

Gah! Every work of yours is like a well awaited sexual experience. You always leave me breathless, satisfied at the end, but anticipating more! The first and last two lines are amazing. The first obviously throwing you into a sense of hunger - the pretty lingere barely covering the best parts of your poetry. And the last a long and passionate kiss with a dreamy, minty-fresh longing.
    Beautiful!
