Fair Winds and Gentle Seas

A leader you were born to be,
it’s something everyone could see.
Your wisdom, faith, both strong and true,
always brought out the best in you.

A family man in every way,
enjoying life from day to day.
Bringing a smile to all you met,
you’re someone we will ne’er forget.

Your cowboy hat and leather vest,
at inventories were the best.
Your timely puns and witty laugh,
supported us just like a gaff.

You taught us well and helped us grow
and as the fair winds start to blow.
Your gentle touch is what we’ll feel,
helping our hearts begin to heal.

Your footprints on our hearts will stay,
we’ll never let them fade away.
And as you watch o’er from above,
we’ll see your smile and feel your love.

Now with these written words today,
it’s not goodbye that we will say.
And as we sail on gentle seas,
it is our hearts you will appease.

Author notes

This tribute is done in loving memory of James Kannally. He was not only my manager for two decades. He was an angel and a special friend. Through his knowledge and guidance I learned about life as well as my job. Jim you will be in my heart always.

Pamela, I do know your loss and I know that you know mine as well. Your words are so much appreciated at this time and I'm so sorry I wasn't here sooner. Things have gotten worse and it is through nobody's fault but my own. I can't even write at this time I'm so lost. I will call you. I just need to get things together. Love you my friend, Joyce

Gyspy, Thabnk you for the lovely words of praise you gave to me here and for your condolences. It is very rare to share a relationship with a manager that makes you feel like one of his own children. That was Jim though. He made us all feel like his own family and we could go to him with anything. I'm sorry it took so long to get back here. He was the best. Love and God bless you, Joyce

I only hope my words can do him justice!

Linda, Thank you for the applauses and for such lovely words to me. I will try not to see this as a loss, though that is hard. I will try and look at this as another of life's lessons. I am going to mail a hard copy to his son and daughter-in-law along with my sympathy card for the family. Thank you again for always being here. Joyce
