I was a single mother at 20...
Mentally ill at the age of 23...
My son was taken away at age 26...
I've been in jail 3 times in my life...
In a psych hospital over 30 times...
Raped over 8 different times in my life...
Homeless twice, eating out of garbage cans...
You can imagine I've been in despair at times?
But the one thing that kept me going,
was the HOPE for a better tomorrow!
I don't know if hope is something like faith,
a gift from God, or if it's something a person
works towards; like practicing patience.
All I know, is that I never could have reached
my 50th birthday this year without it...
HOPE is a four letter word!

Hope is a God given work I belieave. I have been homeless 3 times myself, hope and prayer is all I had. It was a pleasure.

Wonderful. God does give us hope!
You're right hope has so much power, without it we have nothing. What amazing strength you must have, an experience like that would make anyone as strong as an Ox!
Happy Birthday!!
Interesting style, it certainly captures the reader! A wonderful piece, full of love and hope.
God bless!

I figure as long as I'm still breathing there's hope. Even the slimmest of hopes is enough to sustain that drive onward and upward if mixed with faith and love. Good luck in the contest.
