I too, know the healing that comes from an unexpected daughter after three boys. Do you remember meeting me? At the 'point of conception?' A place I rarely go from a troubled time...

I am a little bit dissappointed you didn't include the Talit= the prayer shawl and the tassels being the "healing wings" of Jesus prophesied...

Maybe you were keeping that treasure for yourself...

There are so many treasures my friend ...

and Talita would indeed love to have them all. Some tokens are left for her to discover on her own ...

if there was a measure to softness, this poem would rank with the imperceptible, immeasurable end, the kind which can only be imagined yet never sensed with any of the senses given to us, except the one on which we both agree: love. sweetest of creations, this poem. i guess - modelled on your daughter

      Thank you, Poet ...

and yes you are correct. There are no words to describe my feelings for my daughter in her lovelines other than the word Love. She is to me the personification of God's softest brush, his most gentle hue of perfection. I could not find words to express these feelings and you, Poet, saw that. Thank you.

Thank you Sonja for the warm response ...

It is such a delight to see your words on this poem too. I LOVE Talita's name! Please allow me to tell you the story about this name:

We had four sons before Talita turned up. Every time I fell pregnant, we thought: perhaps this is our daughter! But soon the sonar showed ... another boy! And ah, I loved them all! But the story goes such: from my first pregnance, my husband Johann and I agreed that IF it should be a girl, her name would be Hermien, and we would call her Minki. So ... when I finally realized after a sonar that THIS was our Minki, at last, some feeling of unease started inside me. I did not tell my husband, but I began to write down different names of girls, pondering it. Then, during December 1987, only two months before Talie's birth, the name Talita kept flowing from my pen. It was so persistent and strong, that I began to realize: THIS is her name! Then ... Maria gently forced itself into my scribbles. For: both of her grandmothers carried this name (Maria and Marita) ... Finally I went to Talita's father and showed him the now beloved name: Talita Maria Lochner. To my amazement he immediately accepted the name! And so Minki became Talie!

Another funny tale about the birth of Talita is: all of my friends of Summerstrand, Port Elizabeth, shared in my delight to have a daughter at last. But one, who did not like big families, made a somewhat discouraging comment about us trying so hard to have a daughter. My answer was: Oh, the Father determined that! In Afrikaans: Die Vader het dit beskik (meaning the Heavenly Father); her IMMEDIATE response was: Does the mother have no say? Needless to say, I could not stop laughing! The truth IS: we never tried for a daughter ... she just came along when it was time, as it was time for every one of our four beautiful sons. And I love all of them equally, regardless of gender or age.

Thank you for the blessings, Friend.

    Pragkind

This is an incredibly beautiful and moving poem that pales in comparison to whom it describes. Forgive my horrible translation, but I have attempted a personal message to the Birthday Girl!

Thank you so much Allan --

I post here your English version too:

Sometimes the hardest beauty to see is that which is directly in front of our face. When one is surrounded by beauty and is living beautifully sometimes it becomes difficult to see how precious it all is because it seems so commonplace. I am hoping to convince you that if you truly open your eyes without fear, you will see that you have been given more blessings than you can count and that the splendor and glory of creation is yours for the asking. May your birthday bring you wisdom to appreciate all you have and you continue to live in abundance.

I am sure Talie will appreciate these words.

    Sweet Talita

Ahhh ___ Talita, You are now twenty-one
& although you think it’s time to run
As the journey has now only, just begun

The best of times may seem to tend
Across the river & round the bend
However, this advice, I will lend

There are many glitters of gold
    Many promises whispered & told
If only you would buy, all that is sold

There are only two things, ___ NO, three
That will give you Peace, Joy and Harmony
One, is Faith, given you for free

The second, Wisdom, which was hard fought
Mixed with sweet memories of being taught
By a Mother’s Love, that can not be bought

The third ___ a promise HE, has Sealed
Time and tested that which is concealed
The inner you ____ yet to be revealed.

    Happy Birthday Sweet Talita

P.S. / Give Mother a kiss for me.

for being a source of inspiration to let love be the bond. Talita and I are not only linked by blood and by love, but also by His Blood, shed for us all. I cannot celebrate her birthday without celebrating the love of all who keep her in their hearts, and also celebrating the love of her late father, who cherished her as his beloved daughter. She was gifted with the name TALITA MARIA ... and the wondrous Biblical references thereof.
