Portly, But Not Important

Shadows are quite distinctive
Intimating from their source
Lit by yet a more powerful entity
Haplessly distorting the true visage
Only still related and connected.
Unique to me, as my likeness cast
Enthroned on the canvas of the artists easle
There is my likeness of sorts
The portly demure, suggestive of greatness
Eventually discerned to be more imaginary than real.

Author notes

Word Prompt: SILHOUETTE
For illustration purposes I have included the famous silhouette of the portly (and famous) Alfred Hitchcock.

P.S--(or maybe PMS); I've always had to most difficult time spelling the word SILHOUETTE--I even submitted this poem wrong initailly having omitted the U.
