Who Said There Would Be Rain

The crow called it out as if he knew!
There was no clouds, the sun said high noon.
Once again the crow called rain, can it be true?
Dust blew like a tornado making little whirl winds.
Handkerchiefs cane out to cover the nose.
Breathing had been a problem for many.

In a matter of moments people looked like they would melt.
Fans all turned up on high, it seemed useless to me.
There is no air, people sat with drinks under the trees.
There was a whisper of the crow, the talk grew louder.
Everyone headed for the cafe' for another cool drink.
As some gathered in the cafe', the door blew shut.

Those still out side jumped in cars and trucks.
The crow had warned them by an hour or two.
Everyone was content where ever they were.
After a while they finally met at the cafe'.
The rest of the day was the talk of rain.
Then someone remarked,
"The town had never seen a crow before."
